Home / Sealing Systems / Static seals

A static seal is defined as a seal in which the various coupling elements do not undergo any relative displacement, except for slight expansion or movement caused by the pressure of fluid.

  • General information on anti-extrusion rings

This family of seals, as the name suggests, are not actual seals, they are protective, supporting elements made of material that is resistant to extrusion. They have a rectangular section and are fitted in special cavities along with an elastomer element (basically an O-ring).

They are mainly used in static applications with the aim of stopping elastomer from entering radial clearance.
